VII. Biblical Context and Meaning: 1. Psalm 33 is a majestic hymn of corporate praise celebrating the absolute sovereignty of Yahweh over creation, human empires, and redemptive history. Verses 10 and 11 contrast the futile machinations of earthly rulers with the invincible decrees of Almighty God: "The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; He makes the plans of the peoples of no effect. The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of His heart to all generations." [Ps 33:10–11; Dan 4:35, 37; Lam 3:37]
